Volvo Art Session app for iPhone and iPad

The official app for the Volvo Art Session 2018 is an initiative of Volvo Car Switzerland AG.

Following the topic “Human meets Digital” the app accompanies the user throughout the exhibition and enables him to interact with certain art pieces via augmented reality.

The Swiss Volvo Art Session dates back to 2010 and is an event which celebrates creativity. In 2018 the initiative concentrates on the topic “human-centric-innovation”.

Artists, designers and social thinkers deal with the question surrounding the consequences of fluid boundaries between the real and the digital world. Specifically how this will have an effect on human and the social life.

The installation “Beyond Matter” of the Berlin based art collective Refrakt shows digital images of the human body embodied in a highly technologized surrounding. Virtual sculptures expand the exhibition into the augmented reality and go beyond our apparent reality.

To experience how the artworks of Refrakt merge digital and analog reality direct your iPhone/iPad camera toward one of the artworks. Interact with the artworks by moving in and through gallery space or via touch functionality on the screen.

Using the official hashtag #volvoartsession you are able to share pictures directly out of the app and post them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It is as simple as taking a screenshot and following the directions shown on the screen.
